Over 20 years of development in pipeline transport of gas, oil and petroleum products. Below are the laboratory’s completed and ongoing projects.
PCC “Vesta” — Gas Transport Networks
Status: in industrial operation
Flagship software and computing complex for calculation, monitoring and dispatching of gas transport networks. Developed over 20 years ago, evolved from a research tool into an industrial system. Actively used in academic training of bachelor’s and master’s degree students.
Key capabilities:
- Steady-state and transient simulation of gas transport networks
- Off-Line (calculation) and On-Line (real-time monitoring) operating modes
- SCADA integration via OPC UA / OPC DA / OPC AE protocols
- Real gas equations of state: AGA8, GERG-2008
- Non-isothermal gas flow calculation
- Solvers: Newton–Raphson, Global Gradient Algorithm (CGA)
- Parallel computing: OpenMP, CUDA
- Dispatcher training simulator for operator training and emergency response practice
Oil & Petroleum Pipeline Network Simulator
Status: deployed
Simulation system for oil and petroleum product pipeline networks. Built on a proven prototype derived from PCC “Vesta”, with calculation methods adapted for oil transport in accordance with applicable ISO and GOST standards. Includes a dispatcher training simulator with an automated trainee performance evaluation system. Voice technology tools for simulating radio communications (speech synthesis and recognition) are implemented. The system operates in standalone mode within the customer’s production environment.
Cargo Flow Planning System
Status: prototype
Optimisation and planning system for cargo flows in oil and petroleum pipeline networks. Generates optimal pumping schedules taking into account network constraints and shipper requests. Produces annual plans broken down by quarter and month. Accounts for maintenance schedules, pipeline capacities, pumping mode nomenclature, oil blending, and tank farm availability.
Leak Detection System
Status: prototype
Pipeline leak detection system based on neural networks. Implemented using TensorFlow with CNN and LSTM architectures. Analyses pressure and flow sensor telemetry in real time to detect anomalous pipeline operating conditions.
Multi-Domain Platform
Status: in active development
The next generation of 1401 Lab products — a unified platform consolidating the experience of all previous developments. Built on Clean Architecture and DDD principles with a microservices architecture, Web UI and an import-independent stack: C#, Vue.js, PostgreSQL, ClickHouse, Kubernetes.
